Pakistan Navy Rescues Crew from Burning Bulker Gold Autumn

The Pakistan Navy rescued 18 crew members from the Panama-flagged bulk carrier Gold Autumn on April 10 after the vessel issued a distress call approximately 200 nautical miles off Pakistan's coast following a major onboard fire.

The fire spread rapidly aboard Gold Autumn, with the final strike punching a hole in the hull and disabling the main engine. The vessel was left immobilised and taking damage at the time of rescue. Full details of the cargo and the circumstances of the fire's origin have not been reported.

According to ShipAtlas data, the vessel was fully loaded.

Naval vessel PNS Hunain was dispatched to the scene, providing firefighting support, medical aid, and damage assessment. All 18 crew members were rescued and transported to Karachi for medical care and repatriation. The crew were multinational, comprising Chinese, Bangladeshi, Indonesian, Myanmar, and Vietnamese nationals. No fatalities were reported.

The condition of Gold Autumn following the rescue and whether salvage operations are planned have not been confirmed.

Pakistan Navy is investigating the circumstances of the fire. No independent investigation authority has been announced.
