The Saudi-flagged product tanker NCC Ghazal (50,000 DWT, built 2014) was struck by Houthi anti-ship missiles in the Red Sea on July 28. The vessel turned around and returned to port following the strike.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed responsibility, stating the attack was carried out due to the vessel "violating the maritime embargo imposed on the Saudi enemy." AIS data from ShipAtlas shows NCC Ghazal had gone dark on July 23, last recorded at the Saudi oil port of Yanbu.
No crew casualties or pollution have been confirmed. The extent of damage has not been publicly disclosed.
