Explosions reported near a merchant vessel approximately 25 nm south of Al Mukha

On October 28, 2024, the UKMTO issued an urgent warning concerning a series of explosions reported near a merchant vessel operating approximately 25 nautical miles south of Al Mukha, Yemen (LOCODE: YEMOK).

At 14:35 UTC, the vessel’s Master initially reported an explosion close to the vessel. Approximately 30 minutes later, at 15:03 UTC, a second explosion was reported in close proximity, followed by a third explosion at 16:37 UTC. Fortunately, despite the proximity of the explosions, the vessel and its crew are safe and unharmed.
